Sofia Moltchanova was born in Moscow, Russia in 1963. She graduated from Moscow University for Land Survey Engineers in 1986. Sofia began practicing art and sculpting in 1978. Her work can be found in private collections and galleries throughout Europe, Australia, the U.S. and Canada. She has worked as a graphic artist and illustrator for dog catalogues, animal magazines and children's books, and as an artistic designer in film animation. Her Borzoi, Zagadai was a champion in Russia. Her other dog, Esaul, who was imported from Holland, has fathered many Russian champions. Both dogs have earned hunting diplomas. Sofia was active in the Russian dog show world; it was there she learned to groom.
